Young African Penguin chicks in
transit wait to be released for the first time into the sea off Robben
Island near Cape Town, South Africa. Orphaned by their parents who went into
moulting & could not provide food for their young as they had lost their
waterproofing; the young chicks are hand reared by staff & volunteers at the
Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds (SANCCOB)
before being released. |
